passport is no longer just a far-off compliance idea. The European Commission
rolled out the Digital Product Passport Registry and testing environment on
July 20, 2026, in preparation for the February 18, 2027 deadline.

vehicle battery, light means of transport battery, and industrial battery over
2 kWh that enters the EU market will need an electronic battery passport
starting February 18, 2027. The Commission has announced that the DPP Registry
is now up and running and ready for testing.
But this battery regulation isn’t just about a simple
product ID. Annex XIII goes deeper, requiring detailed information about
battery composition for authorized users who have a legitimate interest. This
includes specifics on the materials used in the cathode, anode, and
electrolyte.

battery-electrolyte formulations, the key concern is ensuring their
documentation is up to standard. While the new rule doesn’t impose restrictions
on PC itself, it also doesn’t mean that every PC purchase will need its own
